Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is actively delivering surgical and inpatient care amid Gaza crisis. They are also preparing a vital donation of medicine and medical supplies for hospitals and health facilities in the region.
 
“Health facilities need this equipment because of the many injured patients,” says Ayman Al-Djaroucha, MSF deputy coordinator in Gaza. “Hospitals are overcrowded with injured people, there is a shortage of drugs and consumables, and a shortage of fuel for generators.”
 
The current situation presents a challenge as the lack of safe transport options hinders patient movement. Ambulances are at risk from airstrikes, making it difficult to transfer patients to health facilities.
“Ambulances can’t be used right now because they’re being hit by airstrikes,” says Darwin Diaz, MSF medical coordinator in Gaza.
 
Local MSF teams have been providing surgical and inpatient care at Al-Awda hospital in northern Gaza. The facility has maximized its bed capacity to handle the expected influx of patients, primarily treating them for gunshot wounds and shrapnel injuries resulting from the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
