Saudi Arabiaโ€™s Council of Health Insurance has confirmed that mandatory health insurance covers a range of home healthcare services, enabling eligible patients to receive essential medical care while recovering at home after hospitalisation.

Covered services include urinary catheterisation, intravenous medication administration following surgery and post-operative wound care. The coverage aims to support recovery, improve continuity of care and reduce the need for unnecessary hospital visits.

The Ministry of Health has also introduced an electronic application process for beneficiaries seeking home healthcare services, making it easier for patients to access medical support while recovering with their families. Home healthcare services offered by the ministry extend to different patient groups and include physiotherapy, nutritional support, respiratory care and medication management.

Saudi health authorities said these services are intended to provide safe, comprehensive and continuous care beyond hospital settings, while improving the healthcare experience for patients and their families. By extending eligible medical services into the home, the initiative supports patient comfort and recovery while helping ensure that essential care continues after hospital discharge.
