The “Young Inspector” initiative reflects Qatar‘s growing commitment to community health education, equipping the next generation with the knowledge and practical skills needed to uphold food safety standards at school, at home, and beyond.

February 2026-Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has launched the “Young Inspector” initiative, a structured programme designed to embed food safety awareness among school students through hands-on learning and real-world exposure.

The initiative combines field visits to food factories, laboratory tours, and school-based workshops, giving students direct insight into food inspection processes, contamination prevention, and hygiene standards within live industrial settings.

Four awareness workshops were conducted across primary schools, incorporating interactive activities tailored to younger age groups. Students also participated in canteen inspections, reinforcing practical understanding of foodborne disease prevention and encouraging healthy habits from an early age.

As part of the programme’s scientific component, the Food Safety Department organised visits to the Ministry’s food safety laboratories, where students observed food testing procedures and learned how laboratory analysis supports early contaminant detection.

The Ministry affirmed the initiative supports its broader strategy of linking theoretical health education with practical application, under specialist supervision. It also acknowledged the private sector’s contribution, noting that public-private partnerships remain central to advancing sustainable health development goals nationwide.
