Sequoia Clinic experts explain how health, fitness and ageing priorities evolve across different stages of life

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The habits that support health in your 20s may need to evolve as the body changes through the 30s, 40s and 50s. According to Sequoia Clinic, healthy ageing involves understanding these changing priorities and adapting lifestyle and healthcare choices accordingly.

In Your 20s: Build the Foundations

The 20s are a key period for establishing habits that support long-term health. Sequoia Clinic recommends focusing on sun protection, adequate sleep, hydration, skincare, a varied whole-food diet and strength training.

Dr. Parisa of Sequoia Clinic said โ€œYour lifestyle is the foundation. Sun protection, nutrition, sleep and habits such as smoking all influence how your skin looks and responds over time. Aesthetic treatments can support the skin, but they work best when the rest of your lifestyle is working with you, not against you. The goal should not be to chase every sign of ageing, but to support healthy skin at every stage.โ€

In Your 30s: Maintain and Monitor

During the 30s, changes in facial fullness, recovery, metabolism and hormonal health may become more noticeable. The clinic recommends focusing on maintenance through adequate protein, fibre and healthy fats, alongside strength training, cardiovascular health and stress management.

In Your 40s: Protect Strength and Metabolic Health

The 40s can bring more visible changes in skin elasticity and facial volume, alongside hormonal, inflammatory and metabolic changes. Maintaining muscle mass through strength training becomes increasingly important, while persistent fatigue, digestive symptoms or other ongoing changes may require closer attention.

โ€œHealthy ageing is really about protecting your future independence and resilience long before you feel that you need to,โ€ said Dr. Alia, Sequoia Clinic. โ€œWhat you prioritise in your 20s should look different from what you focus on in your 40s or 50s. Building muscle, supporting your metabolism, looking after your gut and paying attention to early changes all matter. The earlier you create those foundations, the more you are giving your body to work with later in life.โ€

In Your 50s: Prioritise Strength and Independence

From the 50s onwards, maintaining strength, mobility, bone health and cognitive engagement becomes increasingly important. Balance and stability exercises can support physical function, while activities involving complex movements may help maintain cognitive engagement.

Sequoia Clinic also recommends an individualised approach to aesthetic care, with the focus increasingly placed on looking healthy and well-rested rather than trying to appear significantly younger.

The clinicโ€™s broader message is that healthy ageing is not based on one treatment, supplement or routine. As the bodyโ€™s needs change, health priorities should evolve with them.
