Deceased organ donation increased by 35% between 2024 and 2025, with the number of deceased donors rising from 110 to 149. These donors helped save the lives of 451 people requiring organ transplants in 2025. The UAE reached a rate of 13 deceased donors per million people during the year.

Dr. Ali Abdulkarim Al Obaidli, Chairman of the National Committee for Organ Transplantation, said “352 transplants were recorded in 2024, rising to 452 in 2025. A further 222 procedures were carried out in the first half of 2026. Deceased organ donation increased by 35 per cent between 2024 and 2025, with the number of deceased donors rising from 110 to 149, according to Al Etihad newspaper.”

The countryโ€™s transplant network has expanded to nine hospitals providing kidney transplant services, five offering liver transplants and one providing multi-organ transplantation.

The UAE is also working with other countries on organ donation and transplantation, including cooperation with Kuwait. Dr. Al Obaidli said the UAE supports greater international integration in the field, in line with World Health Organization recommendations for a coordinated global strategy.
