A fertility centre in Abu Dhabi has spotlighted a patient success story that underscores the role of coordinated, personalised care in achieving positive outcomes for couples facing infertility. The case traces a two-year journey from initial diagnosis through to the birth of a healthy baby, involving advanced reproductive procedures, surgical intervention, and seamless clinical handovers across multiple teams.
The patient first sought specialised fertility care in 2023 after two years of primary infertility. Following evaluation, she and her partner proceeded with an IVF/ICSI cycle with preimplantation genetic testing in October 2023. Eighteen oocytes were aspirated, with eleven mature oocytes injected, resulting in nine fertilised embryos. Five embryos were biopsied and cryopreserved, of which three were identified as genetically normal.

During embryo transfer preparation in July 2024, an ultrasound revealed an endometrial abnormality, prompting further investigation. A hysteroscopy confirmed the presence of an endometrial polyp, which was removed via polypectomy. Following her recovery, the patient resumed fertility treatment in November 2024 and underwent a frozen embryo transfer. A subsequent scan confirmed a clinical pregnancy, and she continued antenatal care at a partnered facility, culminating in the successful birth of a healthy baby in July 2025.
Dr. Raquel Loja Vitorino, Reproductive and IVF Specialist involved in the case, reflected on the outcome. “This case reflects the importance of coordinated, patient-centred fertility services. From initial assessment through personalised treatment, surgical intervention when needed, embryo transfer, and ongoing compassionate follow-up, each stage of the journey was carefully aligned and synergised to support the best possible outcome for the patient,” she said.

The fertility centre involved in the case operates within a broader IVF service model supported by advanced clinical infrastructure. It reports clinical pregnancy success rates exceeding 56% in Abu Dhabi, placing it among the highest recorded globally. A patient-focused approach guides each stage of care, combining expert clinical judgement with personalised support tailored to individual circumstances.
The case has been highlighted as an example of how multidisciplinary collaboration and continuity of care across fertility and women’s health services can make a meaningful difference in complex reproductive journeys.
