Dubai, UAE: The UAE has introduced a new digital reporting tool to help residents report suspected side effects of medicines and medical products, as part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen medication safety and public awareness.
Launched by the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), the EDE DAWA smart tool allows individuals to submit reports by scanning a campaign QR code or accessing dedicated reporting services through the EDE website. Separate reporting channels are available for individuals and pharmaceutical facilities, making it easier to share information for specialist assessment.

The initiative forms part of the nationwide โSpeak UpโฆStay Safeโ campaign, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Emirates Health Services, Dubai Health Authority, Department of Health โ Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Health Authority. It coincides with MedSafetyWeek 2026, running from November 2 to 8.
The campaign also includes virtual workshops for healthcare professionals, awareness sessions at the University of Sharjah and seminars for pharmaceutical companies to promote pharmacovigilance practices.
According to EDE, reporting suspected side effects helps regulatory authorities identify potential safety concerns, assess emerging risks and support the continued monitoring of medicines even after they receive marketing approval.
