The United Arab Emirates continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in healthcare innovation through the approval of several advanced treatments in 2026.

The Emirates Drug Establishment approved โ€œBaxfendyโ€ by AstraZeneca for hypertension treatment, making the UAE the first country globally to authorise the medication.

The authority also approved โ€œEURneffy,โ€ the first needle-free epinephrine nasal spray for severe allergic reactions, becoming the first country in the region to approve the treatment.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health โ€“ Abu Dhabi introduced โ€œFoundayo,โ€ a daily oral obesity treatment integrated into its personalised weight management programme. The UAE became the second country globally, after the United States, to approve the therapy.

โ€œThese approvals reflect the UAEโ€™s commitment to accelerating access to innovative therapies and strengthening its position as a leading destination for advanced healthcare solutions,โ€ officials stated.

The approvals build on the UAEโ€™s growing record in advanced healthcare, including pioneering treatments for multiple sclerosis, sickle cell disease, spinal muscular atrophy, Alzheimerโ€™s disease, diabetes, and cancer immunotherapy.
