An infectious diseases expert at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare received a lifetime achievement award honoring his contributions to vaccinology research.
Prof. Jaffar Al-Tawfiq, Consultant of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and Director of Infection Prevention and Control at JHAH, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Vaccinology award at the 8th Saudi International Vaccination Forum.
The award recognizes individuals whose research has made a lasting impact on vaccine science, policy, and public health.

Prof. Al-Tawfiq has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications focused on vaccine-preventable diseases and vaccination policies in Saudi Arabia and beyond. His research has covered pertussis, COVID-19 vaccine safety and hesitancy, breakthrough infections, Mpox vaccine advocacy, and vaccination strategies for healthcare workers.
He is also widely recognized for his work on Hajj-related immunization, including vaccine coverage among pilgrims, preparedness strategies, and pathogen transmission during mass gatherings.
Previously, Prof. Al-Tawfiq received the Saudi Vaccine Award for Vaccine Research and Innovation at the 7th Saudi International Vaccination Forum and the Excellence in Health Research Lifetime Achievement Award from the Saudi Research, Development & Innovation Authority in 2024.
