Saudi Arabia’s SFDA has issued a precautionary warning and supervised recall of select Nestlé infant formula batches over potential cereulide contamination, advising consumers to discontinue use while confirming no related illnesses have been reported locally.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a public warning concerning specific infant formula products manufactured by Nestlé under the NAN, ALFAMINO, S-26 GOLD, and S-26 ULTIMA brands, following a voluntary notification from the company. The alert relates to the recall of certain product batches due to the potential presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria, which could pose health risks to infants.
The Authority explained that the recall is a precautionary step taken after evaluating potential health concerns. Exposure to cereulide may cause symptoms including nausea, repeated vomiting, and abdominal pain. The SFDA confirmed that no illness cases linked to these products have been reported in Saudi Arabia so far.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the affected batches and safely dispose of them. The SFDA stated that it has implemented all necessary measures and is closely supervising the withdrawal of the products from the market in coordination with the manufacturer. Details of the recalled products and batch numbers have been provided in an accompanying table.
Reaffirming its commitment to food safety, the SFDA emphasized its continued oversight to ensure compliance with health regulations. Members of the public are encouraged to report any food safety concerns or violations through the Unified Call Center (19999) or via the Saudi Vigilance service.
