Morocco’s Health Ministry has initiated “health vigilance measures” to prevent the infiltration of bedbug from abroad following an infestation in France. A ship captain arriving from France’s Marseille port alerted Moroccan health teams in Tangier to the presence of bedbugs in the ship’s crew cabin. Thorough inspections confirmed the absence of bedbugs on the ship.
In response to the bedbug issue in France, the Moroccan authorities are taking proactive measures to safeguard against their introduction into the country.
Aurelien Rousseau, the French Health Minister, reassured the public not to panic, and the French government has committed to protecting against the infestation observed in various public places in Paris, including buses, trains, and airports, ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.
