The 9th Qatar Patient Safety Week, centered around the theme “Engaging Patients for Patient Safety,” champions the integral role of patients, families, and caregivers in ensuring healthcare safety. In alignment with World Health Organization’s call to “elevate the voice of patients,” the Ministry of Public Health launched an extensive awareness campaign within healthcare institutions. Dr. Saleh Ali Al Marri, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs, said patient participation as a cornerstone for healthcare safety, highlighting their role in designing national health strategies and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Ghanim Ali Al-Mannai, Advisor to the Strategic Planning, Performance and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Public Health, said: “The health sector in Qatar encourages patients to collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure informed decisions and reach consensus on their treatment plan, spread awareness about the concept of patient safety and encourage communication between decision-makers, healthcare providers and patients.”
During the 9th Qatar Patient Safety Week, scientific lectures, panel discussions, and awareness activities took place. Qatar Patient Safety Week aim to promote a patient safety culture and foster dialogue between patients and healthcare providers to optimize the healthcare system’s safety.
