UAE- September 2024- The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in collaboration with Dubai Health, has organised a blood donation campaign at its headquarters in Dubai.
The campaign, part of MoHAP’s community initiatives, aimed to foster a culture of blood donation and strengthen the values of unity and collaboration across all societal segments. It also aligns with MoHAP’s strategy to support national volunteer initiatives and prioritise patient care.
Impressive participation
At the campaign’s opening, which witnessed impressive participation from employees, HE Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, MoHAP, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to regularly organising blood donation drives. He highlighted blood donation as a noble humanitarian act that boosts hospital reserves and saves the lives of patients in urgent need of transfusions, while supporting various medical and surgical procedures.
Dr. Al Amiri emphasized the need to educate the public about the importance of safe blood donations, highlighting this practice as a sign of a healthy and civilized approach to volunteerism and generosity, values ingrained in UAE society. He commended UAE people for their substantial contributions and leading by example in donating.
Integration of efforts with partners
Dr. Al Amiri commended the collaboration with Dubai Health, which is part of their strategic partnership to deliver innovative and high-quality health services. “We are committed to strengthening the healthcare system and enhancing the quality of life and community health, driven by our ambitious national vision of ensuring a sustainable and healthy future for all.”

Dr. Al Amiri emphasised that the blood donation campaign exemplifies the Ministry’s commitment to following the directives of our wise leadership in fostering a culture of social responsibility among employees and community members. It also highlights their essential role in giving and volunteering, positively impacting the lives of others, and ensuring a safe and steady blood supply.
International standards
Meanwhile, Dr. Heba Al Humaidan, Head of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Dubai Health, stated: “Through the Blood Donation Centre, we provide approximately 50% of the total blood units collected, adhering to the highest safety standards and international best practices to save patients’ lives. The centre has conducted 540 initiatives since the beginning of the year, collecting over 50,000 units of blood through this campaign. This achievement highlights Dubai Health’s commitment to meeting patients’ blood needs, in line with Dubai Health’s core value of ‘Patients First.’ She also praised the close collaboration with the Ministry for the success of this humanitarian initiative, which plays a fundamental role in saving lives.”
