Abu Dhabi University (ADU) and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at GITEX Global Week 2023 Dubai, further solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for innovation. The MoU will promote collaboration in the fields of education, life sciences, and clinical research. It also aims to strengthen the healthtech ecosystem in the Emirate.
Key highlights of the MoU include support for healthtech start-ups, Granting access to health technology assessments. Sharing leading-edge laboratories and health data, Engaging in collaborative research projects with students and faculty and more.
The partnership will promote early exposure for students to the healthcare sector and provide opportunities to work on innovative healthcare projects. ADU will also facilitate students’ integration into the evolving healthcare innovation ecosystem.
H.E. Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director, Research and Innovation Centre at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), said: “The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi continues to forge partnerships with key stakeholders from across various fields to exchange knowledge and expertise and lead distinguished research which will ultimately contribute to the enhancement of healthcare outcomes. Through this partnership, we reinforce our commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare leaders by providing students with early access to healthcare knowledge and real-world experience – empowering them to drive transformative change from the very beginning of their educational journey.”
Furthermore, The two institutions will develop accredited genetic counseling educational courses. These courses aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals and students in genomic and precision medicine. ADU’s College of Health Sciences students will gain hands-on experience through internships within the Emirate’s healthcare sector.
