Bahrainโs National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has approved oral Wegovy (semaglutide) for obesity treatment, expanding access to newer therapeutic options in the kingdom.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, the approval reflects the countryโs efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical regulation and keep pace with advances in medical treatment. The authority said the decision supports access to modern medicines under established medical and regulatory standards.
The oral medication entered the Bahraini market in mid-September 2026, making Bahrain the second Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country, after the UAE, and the fifth country worldwide to make the treatment available, according to the report.
