The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has revoked one doctor’s licence and suspended another for violations of regulations governing controlled medications, following investigations into clinical and prescribing practices.
According to the health authority, the investigations identified shortcomings in clinical assessments, patient follow-up and medical documentation, including insufficient justification for prescribing controlled medicines.
The violations were detected through coordinated inspections and monitoring by relevant authorities, supported by the department’s digital surveillance systems.

The department said the regulatory measures aim to protect patient safety, enforce healthcare regulations and strengthen professional accountability across Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector. It emphasised that compliance with controlled medication requirements is essential because of the potential risks these medicines pose to patients.
The authority also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital monitoring capabilities and strengthening inspections to identify violations and take appropriate action.

Healthcare professionals and facilities have been urged to follow prescribing regulations, maintain accurate medical records, conduct appropriate clinical assessments and ensure proper patient follow-up. Residents are encouraged to report suspected healthcare violations through the department’s official channels.
The action follows the suspension of six doctors in Abu Dhabi in August 2025 for breaches of regulations governing controlled medications.
