The World Health Organization (WHO) has invited organizations and institutions worldwide to join Together for Science and Health, a new global movement aimed at strengthening the relationship between science, health and society while building public trust in evidence-based decision-making.
The initiative seeks to bring researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, funders and communities together to ensure scientific discoveries translate into better health outcomes. Advances in vaccination, antibiotics, sanitation, HIV treatment and cancer care demonstrate how scientific progress can improve and extend lives.

The movement is built around three pillars: science and society, which connects research with community needs; science and policy, which supports evidence-informed health policies; and science communication, which makes scientific information more accessible and addresses misinformation.
โScience is not just about making discoveries. It is about making a difference in peopleโs lives and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit,โ said Dr Sylvie Briand, WHO Chief Scientist and Assistant Director-General for Better Health Systems, Access and Data a.i.

The movement is underpinned by the RISES values of Respect, Integrity, Scientific Rigor, Ethical Responsibility and Social Inclusion. Its official launch is scheduled for 10 November 2026, marking a new step towards making science a stronger force for health, equity and the public good.
