The 9th Emirates Family Medicine Society (EFMS) Congress 2026 opened in Abu Dhabi on October 8, bringing together approximately 1,200 physicians and healthcare professionals from 30 countries to discuss advances in family medicine and primary healthcare.
Organised by the Emirates Family Medicine Society, a member of the Emirates Medical Association, the three-day congress is being held at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers from October 8 to 10 under the theme โFamily and Longevity.โ

The congress focuses on strengthening the role of family medicine in preventive healthcare, early disease detection, chronic disease management and long-term wellbeing. Its programme includes more than 30 scientific sessions, lectures, panel discussions and workshops covering cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, mental health, respiratory conditions, pediatric emergencies and healthy ageing.
Sheikha Dr. Noura Khalid Saqr Al Qasimi, President of Emirates Medical Association said, “We are proud of the remarkable progress achieved by the Emirates Family Medicine Society over the years, establishing itself as an increasingly important professional platform for family physicians and healthcare professionals across the UAE and the region.”
Other sessions explore lifestyle medicine, evidence-based clinical practice, cardiometabolic health, digital health and emerging approaches to longevity and regenerative medicine. The event also provides opportunities for international knowledge exchange and professional development.

During the opening ceremony, an agreement was signed between Special Olympics UAE and the Emirates Family Medicine Society to provide medical support for People of Determination. The ceremony also recognised physicians and healthcare professionals for achievements in research, clinical practice, education, community engagement, leadership and digital health.
