Bethesda, US / Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Northwest Biotherapeutics has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliance Company (SPIMACO) to explore the approval, commercialization, and localization of its DCVaxยฎ-L personalized immunotherapy for glioblastoma in Saudi Arabia.

The proposed collaboration will focus on bringing DCVaxยฎ-L, an investigational therapy for glioblastoma, to the Saudi market through a revenue-sharing model. Under the planned arrangement, SPIMACO would lead regulatory engagement with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), as well as commercial activities including marketing, sales, and distribution, while Northwest Biotherapeutics would provide scientific support, regulatory documentation, and product manufacturing.

The agreement also outlines plans to negotiate technology transfer and localized manufacturing of DCVaxยฎ-L in Saudi Arabia, supporting the Kingdomโ€™s Vision 2030 strategy to strengthen its biotechnology and life sciences sector. The companies also indicated that the collaboration could later expand to additional cancer indications and other GCC markets.

Prof. Ahmed Aljedai, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of SPIMACO, said: “Strategic partnerships are a key enabler of SPIMACO’s long-term growth and transformation. This Memorandum of Understanding with Northwest Biotherapeutics reflects our commitment to collaborating with global innovators to strengthen our capabilities in biopharmaceuticals, advance innovation and knowledge transfer, and support the continued development of Saudi Arabia’s biotechnology ecosystem in line with the ambitions of Vision 2030 and our commitment to strengthening pharmaceutical security.”

We are gratified that SPIMACO sees the important potential of DCVax technologies, and we look forward to contributing to these developments.”
