The World Health Organization (WHO) in Cabo Verde participated in the University of Santiagoโs Scientific Conference, held from 16 to 18 June in Praia and Assomada, focusing on the role of technology and humanization in modern healthcare.
During the opening session, WHO Representative Ann Lindstrand delivered a keynote address titled โTechnology and Humanisation: the Challenges Facing Healthcare in the 21st Century.โ She highlighted the growing pressures on health systems from non-communicable diseases, health emergencies, and healthcare inequalities, stressing the need to balance technological innovation with person-centred care.

The conference also explored how digital health solutions, including telemedicine, can help improve access to healthcare services, particularly in geographically dispersed settings such as Cabo Verde. Discussions emphasized the importance of ensuring that digital transformation enhances quality, accessibility, and continuity of care while remaining responsive to local needs.
