H.E. Al Olama: Emirati martyrs leave behind a story of honor, forever etched in our hearts, and it is from their sacrifice that we draw the strength to progress
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, emphasised that Commemoration Day reflects the UAEโs profound pride in its martyrs, who embodied the nationโs highest values and the spirit of sacrifice that helped shape the UAE.โ
Al Olama noted that Emirati martyrs have left behind are a story of honour that lives in the hearts of all Emiratis, inspiring love for the UAE and loyalty to it.

He added that their sacrifices form the very wellspring from which the nation draws the strength to fuel its journey of progress and accomplishment. Furthermore, they have imbued the nation with the values of solidarity, which, under the directives of our wise leadership, propel the countryโs continuous development and pursuit of excellence.
In honour of their pure sacrifice, the UAE continues its march confidently towards realising sustainable development goals and securing a brighter future for generations to come.
Loyalty to the Nation
In a statement marking Commemoration Day, His Excellency added: โThis national occasion reinforces our deep sense of allegiance, aligning with the vision of the Year of Community aimed at strengthening national responsibility, while complementing the โYear of the Familyโ which emphasises the familyโs crucial role as the fundamental building block in shaping individuals, enhancing national identity, and nurturing devotion and sacrifice for the nation.
A cohesive society is the nationโs stronghold, Al Olama said, and an aware family forms the foundation of stability and prosperity, together creating an integrated social and human framework that elevates quality of life and confidently advances our journey toward achieving the objectives of the โUAE Centennial 2071โ.

H.E. Al Olama stated: โOn this occasion, I extend heartfelt tribute, appreciation, and gratitude to the families of martyrs. They are a true example of sacrifice and dedication, having instilled in their children the highest values of patriotism, children who wrote, with their blood, stories of honour and pride in the UAEโs history. This occasion is also an opportunity to salute our Armed Forces, the nationโs shield and protector, who safeguard our achievements and work tirelessly to build a prosperous future for generations, ensuring that the UAE remains strong, proud, and ever rising.โ

November 30, Commemoration Day
Commemoration Day is a national occasion dedicated to honoring the UAEโs martyrs who sacrificed their lives in military, civil, and humanitarian service to the nation. Declared in 2015 by the late President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in remembrance of Salem Suhail Khamis, the first Emirati soldier to give his life in the line of duty in 1971, the day stands as a national symbol of honor and recognition. It reflects the UAEโs enduring respect, gratitude, and commitment to preserving the legacy of its heroes and strengthening the nationโs unity and resilience.
