Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) has received dual accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for its Pharmacy Department and PGY1 Clinical Pharmacy Residency Programme.

The hospital’s pharmacy services have been awarded International Accreditation of Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy Services (IHPS), recognising the quality of care and services delivered by the pharmacy department and its commitment to continuous quality improvement.

SSMC is the third hospital in the UAE to receive ASHP’s IHPS accreditation, highlighting its contribution to advancing hospital pharmacy practice and healthcare quality in the region.

In addition, SSMC’s PGY1 Clinical Pharmacy Residency Programme has received the full eight-year accreditation period, which is the maximum accreditation term awarded by ASHP. The recognition reflects the strength of the programme’s clinical pharmacy education and training framework.

The dual accreditation reinforces SSMC’s focus on strengthening pharmacy practice, professional development and high-quality patient care while supporting the development of skilled clinical pharmacy professionals in the UAE.
