UAE officials have confirmed that the countryโs pharmaceutical sector remains stable and well-prepared, with a secure strategic stockpile ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential medicines nationwide.
March 2026- His Excellency Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Drug Establishment, has affirmed that the UAEโs pharmaceutical sector is operating with strong stability and preparedness, noting that the countryโs strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient to meet domestic demand.
Al Hajeri said the UAE has implemented advanced policies and strategies to maintain a robust strategic reserve, ensuring the availability of essential medicines for citizens, residents and visitors in adequate quantities and for extended periods. He emphasised that pharmaceutical security remains a core national priority, underpinned by a comprehensive strategic framework designed to guarantee the sustainable availability, quality and safety of medicines under all circumstances.

He added that the Emirates Drug Establishment adopts a proactive approach grounded in risk assessment and emergency planning, further strengthening national readiness and reinforcing public confidence in the countryโs pharmaceutical system.
Her Excellency Dr Fatima Al Kaabi, Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, reiterated that the sector continues to demonstrate high levels of stability and operational readiness, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of medicines and medical products in line with the highest standards of quality and safety.
Dr Al Kaabi explained that the Establishment conducts daily field monitoring and closely tracks medicine movement and stock levels across factories, warehouses and storage facilities through integrated systems developed with strategic partners. This coordinated oversight ensures the continuous availability of essential medicines and helps prevent shortages, while pharmaceutical supply chains across the UAE remain fully operational.
She added that current availability indicators are stable and reassuring, supported by effective forward planning and strong collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, relevant authorities and the private sector. Pharmaceutical security, she noted, is a fundamental pillar of the UAEโs healthcare system, with the Establishment pursuing a forward-looking strategy to safeguard sustainable medicine supplies and ensure preparedness for all potential scenarios.
