Dr. Ammar is a healthcare leader with diverse experience across emerging markets. Experience of over 25 years includes global Biopharmaceutical companies and clinical diabetology practice in India and Libya. Over 20 years in Biopharma holding leadership roles in medical affairs, clinical development and pharmacovigilance at Global Pharma majors (AstraZeneca, Novo Nordisk, Novartis, Allergan, AbbVie) and Indian Multinationals (Dr Reddy’s & Strides Arcolab). 

Dr. Ammar is a Physician with specialist training in Clinical Diabetology and Endocrinology, and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). He was awarded a Fellowship of American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP, USA) and was elected as a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom (RCP, UK). 

Dr. Ammar has worked on many clinical trials across Therapeutic Areas. Led the design and conduct of many non-interventional clinical studies, culminating in their publication. Coauthored five original articles; authored eight invited articles in reputed international healthcare magazines; presented 11 podium presentations and ten posters at international congresses and over 24 posters at national conferences. Delivered over 80 lectures at international and national conferences and seminars across emerging markets, in addition, to 45 teaching lectures at clinical research Institutes etc.

Dr. Ammar currently serves on the ‘Public Policy Committee’ of ACCP and ‘Fellowship and Awards Committee’ of FPM. Served on the education committee (2019-20) and Publication committee (2021-23) of ACCP. Also served on the executive committee of South Asia College (SAC) (2018-20) and on the steering committee of ASMA (Annual Summit of Medical Affairs) Middle East conference in 2024. Recipient of over 20 healthcare awards (viz. Best Citizens of India 2016, Rajiv Gandhi Gold Medal Award 2018, IARDO Award 2019 etc.) and many Industry awards (R&D President’s Award 2021; DAPA Star Award 2010; Asia R& D award 2010; MD’s Circle of Excellence 2009 etc.). Received “Excellence in Achievement” recognition from ACCP in 2022.
