Echelon Healthโ€™s 2025 clinical audit has highlighted several cases of cancer and other serious conditions detected through preventive health assessments in people who had no symptoms.

The audit reviewed 416 preventive assessments conducted during 2025 and recorded two lung cancers, one breast cancer, two prostate cancers and four brain tumours. Thyroid cancer was also detected in one out of every 40 clients screened.

The findings also identified significant cardiovascular disease. One asymptomatic 46-year-old client was found to have blockages of more than 90% in all three major coronary arteries and subsequently underwent bypass surgery. Another client was diagnosed with an acute stroke during a scan and received emergency treatment within an hour.

โ€œPutting one’s head in the sand and hoping for the best will not make a cancer disappear. It will simply allow it to grow and spread, first to the local lymph nodes and then into the bloodstream. Once that happens, we are almost invariably looking at an incurable situation.โ€ Dr Paul Jenkins, Founder and Medical Director, Echelon Health

The audit was released ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and men’s health campaigns in November, highlighting the role of preventive screening and timely diagnosis in improving treatment opportunities.
