The Ministry of Health and Social Services- #Namibia, with World Health Organization (WHO) support, conducted a 5-day tobacco control training in Rundu, Kavango East. It aimed to boost participants’ knowledge and skills in line with Namibia’s commitment to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (#FCTC) since 2005. Notable achievements include bans on tobacco ads and smoking in public spaces and facilities. Deputy Minister Dr. Ester Muinjangue emphasized the need for intensified efforts, switching tobacco farmers to food crops, and full WHO FCTC implementation to reduce non-communicable diseases. The workshop recommended stronger regulations to combat contraband tobacco and enhance smoke protection.
