Mรฉdecins Sans Frontiรจres says more than 800,000 people have been displaced across Lebanon amid intensified Israeli airstrikes, worsening humanitarian and health conditions in overcrowded shelters.
March 2026- Mรฉdecins Sans Frontiรจres has warned of worsening humanitarian conditions in Lebanon as escalating Israeli airstrikes and widespread evacuation orders force hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes.
According to humanitarian assessments, more than 800,000 people have been displaced in less than two weeks, with many families seeking refuge in temporary shelters across the country. One such location, known by residents as the Montana shelter in Marwaniyeh near Saida, currently hosts more than 120 displaced families, including people who have remained internally displaced since 2023.
MSFโs mobile medical teams are providing primary healthcare services to residents in the shelter and conducting similar outreach in other locations across North Lebanon, Akkar, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon and Beirut, where large numbers of displaced people have gathered.

Humanitarian workers report that living conditions in shelters have deteriorated rapidly as new arrivals continue to increase overcrowding. MSF officials warn that repeated displacement is placing significant physical and psychological strain on affected communities.
โI came with my family from Odaisseh, and we were amongst the first people who forcibly evacuated our villages [in 2023],โ says Ghina, standing outside the shelter. โI have been living in this shelter for almost three years. I lived with my family of five in one room, now an influx of people arrived, and, in some rooms, there are up to 30 people living together.โ
