Medtronic has launched the MiniMed Goโข Smart MDI system combined with the Simpleraโข sensor across Europe, introducing a new solution for people managing diabetes through multiple daily insulin injections.
The system is the first to integrate data from the InPenโข smart insulin pen and Simpleraโข continuous glucose sensor into a single mobile application. It provides:
- Real-time glucose monitoring
- Personalized insulin dose recommendations
- Missed dose alerts
Research highlighted by Medtronic shows that missing just two insulin doses per week may increase HbA1C levels by up to 0.4, raising the risk of complications.
Users who responded to missed dose alerts achieved a Time in Range score of 67.2%, compared to the average cohort result of 55.7%.
โThe MiniMed Goโข system remembers, reminds and recommends the right dose at the right time so you donโt have to,โ said Que Dallara, EVP and President of Medtronic Diabetes.
Dr. Martรญn Cuesta Hernรกndez, Endocrinologist at Hospital Clรญnico San Carlos in Madrid, described Smart MDI technology as a major shift in diabetes management.
The system is approved across Europe for patients aged two years and older.

PSV Becomes First Sports Team to Use AI for Predicting Player Illness
Dutch football club PSV has become the first sports team globally to implement advanced AI technology developed by Philips to predict player illness and physical overload before symptoms appear.
The innovation is powered by Philipsโ patented RATE (Rapid Analysis of Threat Exposure) algorithm, which analyzes wearable device data to identify early warning signs of respiratory infections.

The technology allows medical teams to detect potential health issues during asymptomatic stages, improving prevention and intervention strategies.
Research indicates:
- 40โ45% of COVID-19 transmission occurs before symptoms appear
- Influenza can become contagious one to two days before symptoms begin
โIn elite sports, itโs all about the details. AI helps us recognize these signals earlier and allows us to intervene sooner,โ said Wart van Zoest, Club Doctor at PSV.
Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, emphasized that the project demonstrates how AI is shifting healthcare from reactive care toward predictive health insights.
Philips is already integrating similar AI algorithms into hospital monitoring systems, with plans to expand the technology into broader healthcare applications globally.
