Japan has contributed US$10.5 million to the UN to strengthen humanitarian response, recovery, and sustainable development efforts in Ethiopia, with a focus on climate resilience and vulnerable communities.
The United Nations has welcomed a contribution of US$10.5 million, equivalent to approximately ETB 1.62 billion, from the Government of Japan to support humanitarian response, recovery, and sustainable development initiatives across Ethiopia.

The funding will be primarily channelled through United Nations agencies to address urgent needs stemming from climate-related shocks and population displacement, while also reinforcing resilience, livelihoods, and the delivery of essential services for vulnerable communities. The contribution underscores Japanโs ongoing commitment to peace, human security, and sustainable development in Ethiopia.
Through this support, the UN will help advance Ethiopiaโs national development priorities, promoting inclusive and people-centred growth in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the countryโs Ten-Year Development Plan.
