Hartford Hospital has once again earned the highest possible ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for adult cardiac surgery, placing the Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute among the nationโs leading cardiac surgery centers.
Hartford Hospital received a perfect STS score of 18 out of 18 in the latest reporting period, marking its fourth consecutive top performance in the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, widely regarded as the gold standard for measuring cardiac surgical quality and outcomes.
In addition, St. Vincentโs Medical Center earned a three-star STS rating for the first time, highlighting Hartford HealthCareโs continued investment in surgical excellence, clinical consistency, and team-based care.

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons evaluates more than 1,000 cardiac surgery programs nationwide twice each year, assigning one- to three-star ratings based on patient outcomes in adult cardiac surgery.
Hartford Hospital earned the highest three-star rating across all evaluated categories, including:
โข Aortic valve replacement (AVR)
โข Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
โข Mitral valve repair or replacement (MVRR)
โข Combined MVRR and CABG
โข Combined AVR and CABG
โข Multiprocedural overall
