Qatar took part in a special session to nominate the next Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean. During the session, they nominated Dr. Hanan Balkhy from Saudi Arabia as the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean.
The delegation from Qatar was led by HE Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari. The session took place as a part of the 70th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo from October 9 to 12.
HE Minister Al Kuwari congratulated Dr. Hanan Balkhy on her nomination and wished her success in her new role for the benefit of WHO and the region’s countries. She also expressed gratitude to the current WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, for his significant contributions to strengthening health systems and implementing WHO priorities in the region.
