Dubai, UAE- Following the announcement that the Emirate’s healthcare sector had attracted more than 1,200 healthcare professionals within just six months of introducing the “Tawteen” targets, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate, honoured the seven top-performing healthcare facilities that exceeded the Emiratisation targets “Tawteen” in 2023.

This comes in line with the Department’s efforts to provide more job opportunities for UAE nationals, enhancing their contributions to Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system, and achieving the Emiratisation targets set by DoH which include employing 5,000 UAE citizens by the end of 2025.

The award ceremony was held at the Department’s headquarters in the presence of H.E. Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, H.E. Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, and H.E. Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council. In addition to high-level representatives from distinguished healthcare facilities.

The event recognised national talents who recently joined the healthcare sector, as well as the seven top-performing facilities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra region. The honoured facilities were: Zayed Military Hospital, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Tawam Hospital, Al Dhafra Hospitals, Amana Healthcare Medical and Rehabilitation Hospital, Burjeel Medical City and Mediclinic Al Jowhara.

On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) stated: “Today, we celebrate the top-performing healthcare facilities that have not only achieved but exceeded their Tawteen targets, setting an example for others and providing the sector with a competent and skilled healthcare workforce. Following the directives of our wise leadership, the Tawteen initiative has played a key role in job creation, facilitating employment opportunities for national job seekers, reaching a growth rate of 12% in the national workforce by the end of 2023 exceeding the annual target of this initiative.”

H.E. Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) said: “The ongoing collaboration between Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has facilitated the attraction and retention of a significant number of national graduates and job seekers in the workforce. This underscores our collective efforts to attract local talents and implement Emiratisation strategies in line with the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, which prioritises empowering national workforce through robust training programmes under the umbrella of the Nafis programme.”

The Department continues to work alongside the healthcare sector to strategically recruit local talent and absorb graduates from healthcare programmes, national graduates, and job seekers. In line with DoH’s efforts to unlock opportunities for UAE nationals, the Department works closely with healthcare providers to raise Emiratisation rates in medical professions, which include doctors, nursing staff and extended healthcare professions. Additionally, skilled administrative staff in information technology, human resources, accounting, finance, and legal sectors.

Furthermore, DoH is extending its support to all facilities to achieve the target and make the most of the “Nafis” initiative and its platform to identify Emiratis seeking employment in the healthcare field.
