Ajman Municipality has made a significant announcement through their official X account (formerly known as Twitter), declaring a ban on the use of single-use plastic bags throughout the emirate starting January 2024. This environmentally conscious decision, affecting all shopping centers and sales outlets, reflects a dedication to sustainable practices.

The move is in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. (380) of 2022, regulating single-use products in state markets, and is compliant with Federal Law No. (2) of 2018 on integrated waste management. The initiative is part of the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment’s commitment to a plastic bag-free UAE.
