Amana Healthcare has celebrated the completion of a volunteer-led initiative that transformed three pediatric villas at Amana Healthcare Village into colourful and engaging spaces for children receiving long-term care.
The project, titled “Anamel Tanbod Bil Hayat,” was initiated and delivered by the Rabdan Volunteer Team with support from the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an through the Qfilat Al Amal Program. The initiative redesigned the villas around three themes: Emirati heritage, dinosaurs and the undersea world.
The redesigned spaces aim to make everyday surroundings more welcoming for young patients while providing families and caregivers with more engaging environments to spend time together. The project introduces elements of creativity and discovery into spaces where children live and receive care during their treatment journeys.
The Rabdan Volunteer Team is a licensed Abu Dhabi community volunteer group focused on strengthening social connections, encouraging community service and creating opportunities for young people to develop leadership and volunteering skills.

The completion of the project was marked by a celebration attended by representatives from Ma’an, the Rabdan Volunteer Team, the Family Care Authority and Amana Healthcare, alongside young patients, caregivers and volunteers.
During the event, volunteers and participating partners received commemorative plaques and certificates of appreciation. The children were also recognised as “Future Leaders” and presented with gifts and certificates celebrating their courage and potential.
Dr. Jason Gray, Chief Executive Officer of Amana Healthcare, said: “Some of the most meaningful moments in a child’s day happen outside treatment itself; when they are playing, laughing with family or discovering something that captures their imagination. This project has brought more of those moments into our pediatric villas. We are incredibly grateful to the Rabdan Volunteer Team for the care and creativity they invested in every space, and to Ma’an for helping make that possible. Seeing how the children have responded is the strongest reflection of what this collaboration has achieved.”

The initiative reflects a broader approach to long-term care that considers the environment and everyday experiences surrounding patients alongside clinical care. Amana Healthcare said it is continuing to explore additional community-led initiatives across its facilities.
