WHO and the Doris Mollel Foundation (DMF) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration on the health and survival of small and sick newborns, with a particular focus on Africa.

Signed on 29 June 2026, the agreement establishes a framework for joint advocacy, evidence generation, research, and strategic communications to improve newborn health outcomes.

The collaboration will include joint advocacy through regional and global platforms, support for research and documentation of effective newborn care models, and coordinated communications around key health observances such as World Prematurity Day.
