Dubai, UAE: Cycle Against Cancer has completed its 3,333km endurance ride from Barcelona to Paris, raising AED 2.4 million in support of Al Jalila Foundation, exceeding its original fundraising target of AED 1.8 million by more than 25%.

The 25-day expedition brought together 15 riders, including cancer survivors, business leaders, and members of the UAE cycling community, cycling across Spain and France to raise funds and awareness for cancer care.

Guido De Wilde, founder of Cycle Against Cancer and stage 4 colon cancer survivor, said: “When we started planning this challenge, we knew the ride would test us physically, but what has stayed with me most is the generosity and belief of everyone who chose to support us. Watching people rally behind this cause has been a powerful reminder that no one has to face cancer alone. While reaching Paris was a proud moment for the team, the greatest achievement is knowing that every donation will help bring hope and support to people who need it most. We have raised our fundraising target because this movement is bigger than one ride, and we want to keep that momentum going for as long as possible for Al Jalila Foundation’s critical cancer care programmes.”

Following the success of the campaign, the fundraising target has been increased, with donations remaining open to further expand support for cancer care programmes. A gala event is planned for September to recognize the riders, partners, and supporters.

Founded by a stage 4 colon cancer survivor, the initiative aims to inspire hope, resilience, and community support while improving access to cancer care.
