Arcera Life Sciences and Daewoong Pharmaceutical have expanded their strategic partnership to introduce Enavogliflozin, Daewoong’s novel SGLT2 inhibitor for type 2 diabetes, across key Middle East markets. The expansion builds on their successful collaboration in Latin America and reflects a shared commitment to improving access to innovative cardiometabolic therapies.

Enavogliflozin is approved in South Korea for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and has demonstrated strong efficacy in glycemic control. The partnership also follows the recent approval of the therapy in Mexico, marking another milestone in the companies’ global collaboration.

Under the agreement, Arcera and Daewoong will work together on regulatory approvals, market access, and commercialization across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, and Iraq. The collaboration combines Daewoong’s research and development expertise with Arcera’s regulatory and commercial capabilities across international markets.

Isabel Afonso said:ย โ€œAt Arcera, we are building a leading life sciences company that connects innovation with patients across international markets. The expansion of our relationship with Daewoong reflects the strength of our business and demonstrates how we can create value by building long-term strategic partnerships that extend across multiple regions and therapeutic areas.โ€

Shawnย Park said:ย โ€œThis expansion reflects the global competitiveness of Enavogliflozin as a next-generation SGLT2 inhibitor. By combining our innovative therapy with Arceraโ€™s proven infrastructure, we aim to address the high prevalence of diabetes in the Middle East and Egypt and deliver a novel treatment option to patients across the region.โ€

The companies said the expanded partnership supports their long-term strategy of delivering innovative medicines to regions with a high burden of diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases while strengthening access to advanced treatment options for patients.
