Sharjah, UAE โ€“ 8 May 2025 โ€“ smart, the contemporary sustainable mobility brand presented by AW Rostamani Group in the UAE, proudly partnered with the American University of Sharjah (AUS) as the official mobility partner for the three-day โ€˜Get Active for Educationโ€™ initiative (April 8โ€“10, 2025). The event combined healthy living with meaningful givingโ€”raising vital funds for AUSโ€™s scholarship programme to support students of determination and those facing financial challenges in accessing higher education.

The eventโ€™s centrepiece, a 2K walkathon, saw the first 100 finishers unlock smartโ€™s pledge of AED 100 per participantโ€”resulting in a total contribution of AED 10,000 to AUSโ€™s scholarship fund. Over 500 students, faculty members, and local business representatives also participated in the Corporate and Student Games semi-finals and finals, promoting wellness, teamwork, and inclusive engagement across the AUS community.

Campus-goers were invited to test-drive smartโ€™s innovative electric vehicles (EVs), reinforcing the brandโ€™s commitment to sustainability and offering hands-on experiences with cutting-edge green mobility.

โ€œOur collaboration with AUS on Get Active for Education exemplifies smartโ€™s vision to lead with purpose,โ€ said Roberto Colucci, Director of Electric Vehicles at AW Rostamani Group. โ€œThrough combining physical activity with a scholarship drive, weโ€™re advancing sustainable transport while investing in the future of students who face social or financial barriers. Together with the AUS community, weโ€™re driving toward a more inclusive, forward-thinking tomorrow. Weโ€™re excited to see the continued impact of this partnership and look forward to future collaborations that build on its success.โ€

This initiative aligns with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to triple the share of renewable energy and achieve net-zero emissions by mid-century. smartโ€™s participation highlighted how EV adoption and community engagement can work in tandem to reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainability awareness.

At the eventโ€™s closing ceremony, AUS presented smart with a commemorative plaque, recognizing the brandโ€™s generous contribution and its role in championing accessible education. The honour reflects the power of strategic collaboration between academia and industry to spark real-world impact.

The success of Get Active for Education illustrates how purpose-led mobility brands like smart can act as drivers of social progressโ€”by funding education, promoting health, and accelerating environmental responsibility. Looking ahead, smart aims to build on this partnership with AUS through future initiatives that further unite innovation, accessibility, and sustainability.
