The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has approved Jascaydยฎ (nerandomilast) for the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF) in adult patients, expanding access to innovative therapies for chronic lung diseases.

Jascaydยฎ works by selectively inhibiting phosphodiesterase-4B (PDE4B) and has been shown in clinical studies to help slow the decline in lung function among patients living with IPF and PPF.

With the approval, the UAE becomes the first country in the region and the third globally, after the United States and China, to authorize the treatment. The decision followed a comprehensive review of the therapyโ€™s quality, safety, efficacy, and clinical evidence by the Emirates Drug Establishment.

EDE highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and regular monitoring for patients with chronic lung diseases, noting that timely treatment can improve health outcomes and quality of life.
