San Diego, CA – Tandem Diabetes Care, a leading insulin delivery and diabetes technology company, has announced the launch of updated t:slim X2™ insulin pump software featuring integration with Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in the United States. Tandem’s highly rated automated insulin delivery (AID) system* with Control-IQ technology now stands as the sole AID option globally utilizing Dexcom’s latest CGM technology.

The in-warranty t:slim X2 users in the United States, numbering over 300,000, will receive email instructions, enabling them to add the new Dexcom G7 integration feature free of charge through a remote software update. Meanwhile, t:slim X2 pumps pre-loaded with the updated software have commenced shipping to new customers.

“With this launch we are offering more than 300,000 current t:slim X2 users the ability to integrate with Dexcom’s most advanced CGM technology, demonstrating our commitment to continued leadership in advancing AID systems,” said John Sheridan, president and chief executive officer of Tandem Diabetes Care. “As we celebrate our 10-year partnership with Dexcom, we remain committed to sustaining our rapid pace of innovation to further our mission of helping improve the lives of people with diabetes.”

The integration with Dexcom G7 opens up new possibilities for t:slim X2 insulin pump users, allowing them to spend more time in a closed loop with minimal wait time between Dexcom G7 CGM sensor sessions. Additionally, users can opt for either a Dexcom G6 or Dexcom G7 CGM sensor, providing more flexibility in diabetes management.

Dexcom G7, characterized by a 60% reduction in size compared to its predecessor, Dexcom G6, boasts improved accuracy, a shorter 30-minute sensor warmup time (previously 2 hours), and a 12-hour grace period for replacing finished sensors. These features contribute to a more seamless transition between sessions and offer users greater flexibility in changing sensors.
