Saudi Arabia and WHO reaffirm strategic partnership to advance regional health priorities and strengthen resilient healthcare systems under Vision 2030.

The Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development, Eng. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Rumaih, today received the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Dr. Hanan Balkhy, during her official visit to the Kingdom from 13 to 14 January. The meeting highlighted the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Health and the WHO, emphasizing ongoing high-level dialogue on regional and global health priorities.

The discussions focused on advancing the outcomes of the 2024 strategic dialogue between Saudi Arabia and the Organization and exploring broader collaboration across key health sectors. Areas of emphasis included strengthening regional and international health initiatives and building resilient, sustainable health systems through impactful global partnerships, ultimately enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

The meeting aligns with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030, supporting the development of a โ€œVibrant Societyโ€ and a โ€œThriving Economy.โ€ It also reinforces the Ministryโ€™s goals of expanding health investment opportunities and strengthening the Kingdomโ€™s role on the global health stage, showcasing Saudi Arabia as a trusted international partner, advancing local pharmaceutical production, promoting technology transfer, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the national health system.
