Roche Diagnostics Middle East announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Institute for Design and Innovation (DIDI), marking the beginning of a pioneering partnership that brings together two organisations driven by purpose and committed to shaping a better, healthier, and more sustainable future.
This collaboration stands out as an unconventional yet powerful alliance between healthcare and design education; two fields that, when combined, have the potential to redefine how society approaches some of its most pressing challenges. Innovation has always been part of Rocheโs DNA as a global leader in healthcare innovation, and partnering with an institution centred around creativity and forward-thinking solutions such as the DIDI University is a natural next step in accelerating impact.

DIDI does more than nurture a pool of highly skilled designers; it prepares the designers of the future: individuals who place community needs at the center of every project and actively seek ways to build a more sustainable future for all through human-centered design.
Through this partnership, students will have the opportunity to apply their creativity to real healthcare gaps that directly impact patients, including areas like diabetes management and Green Labs. Roche subject-matter experts will provide ongoing guidance, support the assessment of capstone projects, and collaborate on awareness initiatives co-driven by both organisations to elevate understanding of key healthcare challenges and solutions.
Beginning January 2026, students will submit project concepts that marry design thinking with healthcare innovation. The winning student will receive an award that may include an internship opportunity with Roche, while selected projects may be featured on Rocheโs Jasady platform to showcase their innovative approaches to a broader audience.
โIโm pleased to formalize this strategic collaboration between Roche and Dubai Institute for Design and Innovation (DIDI),โ said Guido Sander, General Manager, Roche Diagnostics Middle East. โThis partnership reflects our shared purpose and belief that unconventional collaborations are what truly shape the future of healthcare.
