Recor Medical marked World Hypertension Day 2026 by highlighting ongoing innovation in hypertension detection, management, and treatment, while raising awareness about the global impact of high blood pressure.
According to the World Health Organization, the number of adults living with hypertension increased from 650 million in 1990 to 1.3 billion in 2019. Often referred to as the โsilent killer,โ uncontrolled hypertension can lead to heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.
Recor Medical emphasized the role of ultrasound renal denervation (uRDN), a minimally invasive device-based therapy designed to reduce overactive sympathetic nerve activity linked to high blood pressure. The companyโs Paradiseโข uRDN system uses ultrasound energy to target nerves surrounding the renal arteries as an additional treatment option for patients whose blood pressure remains uncontrolled despite medication and lifestyle changes.

โWorld Hypertension Day is a powerful reminder that we must do more to close the gap between diagnosis and control,โ said Helen Reeve-Stoffer, Chief Operating Officer of Recor Medical. โWe are committed to advancing innovative solutions that help physicians better manage patients whose blood pressure remains uncontrolled despite lifestyle changes and medication.โ
Dr. Shon Chakrabarti, Chief Medical Officer of Recor Medical, said “Device-based therapies such as the Paradise procedure represent a new era in hypertension care by expanding treatment options alongside medications and lifestyle interventions.”
The Paradise uRDN system received FDA approval in 2023 and is commercially available in the United States as an adjunctive treatment for hypertension patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled.
