Dubai, UAE: Aster Hospital Al Qusais has successfully performed one of the UAE’s most complex heart bypass surgeries on a 55-year-old patient, completing a rare five-vessel coronary artery bypass graft (CABG x5) with 11 arterial connections while the heart continued beating throughout the procedure.
The advanced total arterial, anaortic revascularization procedure used only the patient’s own arteries to restore blood flow without manipulating the aorta, helping reduce the risk of stroke while improving long-term outcomes. The eight-hour surgery was performed by Dr. Sandeep Srivastava and Dr. Shipra Srivastava after the patient was diagnosed with advanced coronary artery disease and multiple severe arterial blockages.

During the operation, the surgical team also removed hardened plaque and reconstructed damaged coronary arteries to restore circulation. The patient recovered well following the procedure.
