The Ministry of Public Health Qatar released results from its annual school student acuity survey for the 2022-2023 academic year. The survey revealed that 10% of students had acute impairment (less than 6/6 vision), an improvement from the 14% in the previous year.

The study involved 99,370 students from 330 government and private schools, showcasing collaboration between the Ministries of Public Health and Education.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Thani stressed the commitment to children’s eye health and integrating survey findings into national health and public health strategies. The survey’s goal is to prevent vision impairment and eye laziness early, aligning with a broader strategy to support students’ eye health in schools across Qatar.
