Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has introduced a new electronic permit system that allows travellers entering or leaving the country to apply online for approval to carry controlled medicines for personal use.

The digital platform enables passengers to submit applications, upload medical prescriptions and required documents, track application status, and receive permits electronically before travelling. The initiative aims to simplify travel procedures while ensuring the safe and regulated transport of controlled medicines.

Applications are reviewed by the Ministry’s Department of Pharmacy and Drug Control, with decisions issued within three working days once all requirements are met. Travellers are advised to apply at least five working days before departure to allow time for any additional documentation.

The new service is part of Qatar’s broader digital health strategy to modernize public health services, strengthen pharmaceutical oversight, and improve the travel experience for patients requiring essential medications.
