New crescent moon sighted in New Zealand, Ramadan fasting begins

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed that the new crescent moon has been sighted by the local Islamic community, marking the start of Ramadan. As a result, Muslims in New Zealand will begin fasting on March 1, 2025.
