NCQA, together with eHealth Exchange, Cambia Health Solutions, and MultiCare Health System, received the 2026 KLAS Points of Light Award for demonstrating the feasibility of Bulk FHIRยฎ data exchange in digital quality measurement.

The collaboration addressed longstanding challenges in healthcare quality reporting, including fragmented data exchange, manual chart reviews, and inconsistent workflows. Through the Bulk FHIR Quality Coalition, the organizations tested scalable interoperability using standardized Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIRยฎ) within a TEFCAโ„ข-aligned framework.

The initiative successfully exchanged HEDISยฎ-relevant clinical data for more than 5,000 attributed members while validating data completeness for reporting.

Results showed significant operational improvements, including a reduction of approximately $50 per chart in chart-chasing costs for MultiCare and a 175% improvement in medical record procurement performance. Automated retrieval also reduced data export timelines from days or weeks to minutes.
