In a bold move to strengthen national drug security and place Abu Dhabi at the heart of global health innovation, Mubadala has launched its latest National Champion—Mubadala Bio—a life sciences powerhouse designed to transform the UAE’s healthcare landscape and build bridges beyond its borders.
The launch, officially announced today by Mubadala Investment Company PJSC, underscores the sovereign investor’s growing focus on healthcare resilience and economic diversification. Mubadala Bio emerges not only as a biopharma entity but as a comprehensive engine for innovation—bringing together manufacturing, distribution, research, and global partnerships under one unified vision.
With 10 facilities spanning Asia, Africa, and Europe—including six in the UAE—Mubadala Bio is setting its sights on serving more than 100 countries. Its vast operational footprint has the capacity to produce over 2.5 billion tablets and capsules annually, alongside 120 million IV and injectable units. At 110,000 square meters in scale, these facilities will collectively support the manufacturing and delivery of more than 10,000 healthcare products across the continuum of care—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and supportive medicine.
“By launching Mubadala Bio, we are taking a transformative step towards strengthening national drug security and fostering innovation in life sciences,” said Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform. “This positions Mubadala at the forefront of the industry… and elevates Abu Dhabi’s role in delivering impactful health solutions on a global scale.”
Mubadala Bio’s mission goes beyond infrastructure. By aligning with global life sciences leaders and top academic institutions, it seeks to create a talent-rich, innovation-driven ecosystem in the Emirates—an ecosystem that reflects the UAE’s long-term goal of becoming a hub for scientific excellence and biopharma leadership.
“With the launch of Mubadala Bio, we are proud to take a significant step forward in supporting the UAE’s ambition to be a global leader in the life sciences industry,” added Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of UAE Clusters at Mubadala.
A symbolic start that highlights its intention to showcase local capabilities and the UAE’s growing strength in life sciences manufacturing and innovation.
