Strong public-private partnership

The event was inaugurated by Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group, alongside His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council, Her Excellency Hessa Abdulrahman Tahlak from the Ministry of Family, and Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation. Representatives from Emirates Health Services, Lions Clubs International Middle East, and GEMS Education participated, demonstrating collective commitment to healthier living.

Youth engagement and wellness activities

The Superkidz Writing Competition engaged students from 15 GEMS schools, encouraging exploration of healthy living themes through storytelling. Winners were celebrated during the event, inspiring future generations toward healthier lifestyles.

Participants enjoyed a 2-kilometer community walk followed by diverse fitness and educational activities. Free health services included blood glucose testing, screenings, vaccinations, and nutrition consultations through Al Jalila Foundation and Emirates Health Services partnerships. Family-friendly fitness sessions, sports challenges, and entertainment rounded out the experience.

Long-term community impact

Since 2009, Beat Diabetes has engaged over 165,000 participants across the region, championing: Take the Test. Eat Healthy. Get Active. The initiative addresses the Middle Eastโ€™s high diabetes prevalence by emphasizing prevention and early detection.

Nisha Jagtiani, Group Director, noted the inspiring community response and highlighted accessible preventive healthcare delivery through initiatives like Al Jalila Foundationโ€™s Wellness on Wheels mobile unit.

Dr. Amer Al Zarooni emphasized, โ€œPrevention and early detection are fundamental to improving long-term health outcomes, particularly when awareness translates into practical actions benefiting families across the UAE.โ€

All event proceeds, including registration fees and in-store donations across Landmark Group brands, support Al Jalila Foundationโ€™s diabetes research, treatment, and patient care, reinforcing Landmark Groupโ€™s leadership in diabetes prevention and community wellbeing during the UAEโ€™s Year of the Family.
