Over 17,500 participants gathered at Zaโabeel Park for the 16th annual wellness initiative, aligning with UAEโs Year of the Family to promote diabetes awareness, prevention, and healthy lifestyles.
Landmark Group successfully hosted the 16th Beat Diabetes Family Event at Zaโabeel Park, bringing together over 17,500 participants in one of the UAEโs largest family-focused wellness initiatives.

Strong public-private partnership
The event was inaugurated by Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group, alongside His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council, Her Excellency Hessa Abdulrahman Tahlak from the Ministry of Family, and Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation. Representatives from Emirates Health Services, Lions Clubs International Middle East, and GEMS Education participated, demonstrating collective commitment to healthier living.
Youth engagement and wellness activities
The Superkidz Writing Competition engaged students from 15 GEMS schools, encouraging exploration of healthy living themes through storytelling. Winners were celebrated during the event, inspiring future generations toward healthier lifestyles.
Participants enjoyed a 2-kilometer community walk followed by diverse fitness and educational activities. Free health services included blood glucose testing, screenings, vaccinations, and nutrition consultations through Al Jalila Foundation and Emirates Health Services partnerships. Family-friendly fitness sessions, sports challenges, and entertainment rounded out the experience.
Long-term community impact
Since 2009, Beat Diabetes has engaged over 165,000 participants across the region, championing: Take the Test. Eat Healthy. Get Active. The initiative addresses the Middle Eastโs high diabetes prevalence by emphasizing prevention and early detection.
Nisha Jagtiani, Group Director, noted the inspiring community response and highlighted accessible preventive healthcare delivery through initiatives like Al Jalila Foundationโs Wellness on Wheels mobile unit.
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni emphasized, โPrevention and early detection are fundamental to improving long-term health outcomes, particularly when awareness translates into practical actions benefiting families across the UAE.โ
All event proceeds, including registration fees and in-store donations across Landmark Group brands, support Al Jalila Foundationโs diabetes research, treatment, and patient care, reinforcing Landmark Groupโs leadership in diabetes prevention and community wellbeing during the UAEโs Year of the Family.
